Easter Worship Access Instructions
A message from Rev. Jim, Martin, Teri and Stoyko
Dear Church Family,
We hope this finds you all healthy and safe in these difficult medical and economic times. Yes, we are making sacrifices but during this Holy Week we humbly reflect upon the tremendous sacrifices Jesus made for us and His gift of resurrection for all His believers.
Our Parish Life Coordinator, Lisa has reached out to many of you who are living alone and who do not receive e-mails. Reverend Dr. Jim has also been in touch with many and encourages us to contact him either by phone or e-mail (see below) with your concerns. For the past three Sundays our interim minister Reverend James, our Music Director Victor and our church leaders have done an amazing job setting up an online worship service for us to connect with.
We understand not all of us are hooked up to technology. If not, we encourage you to use your telephone to dial-in to listen to our services, especially this Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
To dial in to worship services, first call: +1 646 558 8656. This will prompt you to enter a meeting identification number followed by the pound or number sign. Please use: 246 611 260 # Then you will be asked if you are the host. Since you are not, it will ask you to enter # again. We had over 80 participants for Palm Sunday and hope even more will join in for Easter.
How can we best support our church during this time? It is especially important that our church Treasurer Rick Berkenstock has enough funds to pay our bills and especially salaries (62% of our costs) since our ministry is not eligible for unemployment benefits.
For those of you who use electronic funds transfer from your accounts to the church, thank you for your consistent cash flow. For others, our usual ways of giving have been interrupted. Please consistently send in your pledges and/or any contributions you may have put in our offertory plate to the church using our mailing address of CCEH, P.O. Box 237, East Hampton CT 06424.
Another option is to use Bill Pay through your bank and designate a payment to Congregational Church of East Hampton, P.O. Box 237, East Hampton. While you are there, you may set up a recurring contribution which you can change at any time. If you need help navigating on-line payments, Treasurer Rick and all of us are here to help.
The church finance leaders are also researching other options for direct, one- time online contributions and will be rolling those out in short order.
At our January Annual Meeting the Congregation approved a significant deficit budget. In the past our deficits have been fervently reduced by generous Easter offerings. This week you may have received the First Quarter 2020 pledge statements along with an Easter offering envelope. If you are able, the Finance Committee encourages your contributions towards this endeavor so that our endowments will remain intact for future generations of our church family.
In his April 1st “Stay Connected” e-mail, Reverend Jim writes: “Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email for pastoral support – a prayer, a conversation. Your questions and concerns are most welcomed.”
Please stay safe and well during these challenging days.
